Our cinema room, where we watch movies and where Robert and I also have dinner, became too red. I know cinemas (at least the ones in my head) are red, velvet with comfy chairs. But the white and red became too much and too harsh, I felt it needed to be toned down and softened by some more white and pink. This is what it looked liked before: a gathering of all kind of stuff on the shelves… a sleepy Otta and not enough plants:
So I mounted a new Tolhuijs FENCY on the wall. You know how much I love their mint green wall system that I restyle very often (like HERE and HERE), so this white version was an obvious choice. The FENCY wall shelves are co-created in Dutch prisons and social workplaces and made out of festival fences and wooden pallets. Pure waste upgrading! And they look good are truly are a stylist's dream:
While cleaning out my atelier the other day, I re-discovered my old discoball, so it had to go here for some bling bling!
I also rearranged the mess in the magazine rack and hung the Cradle propagation holder by Hilton Carter. My first Monstera deliciosa variegata cutting (the leaf in the right tube) from Brussels loves it in there: it's growing some mayor roots! The Cleistocactus poster below the Cradle is from Blad magazine, the one on the right of the Cradle is a signed photo by Heather Moore from Skinnly LaMinx.
Pictured below: the dahlias that I picked at a pick-your-own-field near Senlis, the Cleistocacti in an Elho plant stand and some plants in the Evian crate… Oh and the Aufschnitt heart cushion that I love so much, on the left:
Voilà, it's still a bit of a mess, but a happy mess that will change over time:
Otta approves:
Recently Tolhuijs added a set of new shelves to their collection. They look similar to the existing ones, but the pallet wood they're made of is slightly different. You can see the difference in the first image of this post. The shelf on top is with wider strips of wood, than the shelf below. I really like the soft finish of the new shelves.
There are several options to personalise your FENCY with S-hooks, clasps or even magnets: because the FENCY is made of coated steel, you can use it to attach small notes or postcards:

Wow such wonderful taste. Everything you've selected here makes me smile from corner to corner. I especially love the vintage pink Evian water cart, that's a real gem! Not to mention also the magazine holder. I want one of those to put my old computer gaming and skate magazines that I have kept from my childhood in the 90's. Bravo!
Wat mooi!
